So, you've put together your Yuwie profile. You've found new friends. The next thing you need to do is start reaching out to your newly found Yuwie friends. The best way to do this is by sending and receiving messages. Yuwie has provided a very basic messaging system that allows members to send private messages, also known as PM's, to each other. This messaging system does not allow for html messaging nor does it have an email bridge. An email bridge would allow the message to be converted to email and sent outside the Yuwie platform. The one nice feature of the Yuwie messaging system is that your receive an email notification that you have received an email. To follow along, words in these brackets [link] are links that you need to click on to get to where you need to be to follow along. So now that you have an idea what you can and can't do with messaging, let's get started.
Goto the top navigation bar and click the [Control Panel] link. When your control panel page opens, goto the left hand navigation menu and click the [Friends] link. Once your Yuwie friends page open, goto the drop down menu on the right hand side labeled "Sort By:". Click on [the down arrow] and go to the bottom of the list and select the [Online Friends] option. Once that is highlighted, your page will refresh showing only your friends that are online. If you do this, and you don't have any friends that are online, that's fine too. Just click the [Back Arrow] on your browser. So now you are on the "Your Friends Page" of choice, click on the first name or the picture that comes up. The page that come up next is the "Friends Details" page. Now at this point you can click the [Send Message] link. But I prefer actually clicking my friends name or picture. This opens their profile page that earns both you and them a page view. Under their picture is the "User Options". Click on the [Send Message] button. Click the [Send Message] button. This will open up a message box. In the subject [Text Box] type in the subject of your message. Next, in the [Message Box] type you message. When you're finished with your message, click the [Send] button. An email will be sent to your friend notifying them they have a new message.
When someone send you a message, you'll receive and email notification email saying that you have received a new message. The link will bring you to your control panel. In your control panel, in the System Messages section under your profile picture will be a [You Have New Messages] link. Click on the [You Have New Messages] link. Clicking this link opens up your Yuwie Messages inbox. Select the first unread message. You can differentiate the read messages from the unread messages by the fact that unread messages are bolded while read messages are normal text. Click on the [Message Subject] link to open your new message.
The new page that opens will have your message in it. The options you can choose from are [Reply] [Forward] [Delete] [Block User] [Report Spam] and [Next Message]. Go ahead and click on the [Reply] button and tell the person thanks for the message.
