Adding a blog to your Yuwie profile

Adding a blog to your Yuwie profile… A blog short for weblog, is a type of website, or part of a website, with regular articles, commentaries, event descriptions. These entries may contain multimedia to help convey a point or present a topic of interest.. Generally speaking, a blog is a group of related articles that are used to present the authors point of view. A blog is usually theme centric, but does not have to be. Sometimes blogs are categorized by authors instead of themes. When blogs are categorized by author, they are often in a diary type format.

Normally, a blog will combine a body of text with audio, images, links to other blogs or web pages, and video. While the majority of blogs are text based, a blog can be based on art, images (photo),  sketches, videos, music, or audio commentary. These groupings are broadly referred to as social media. A new type of blogging has become popular as of late, micro-blogging. Micro-blogging is a blog that is made up of very short posts. A good example of the micro-blogging format is Twitter.

So, now that your Yuwie profile is set up to your liking, your Yuwie blog is an important way to deliver personal updates, stories, and articles that people may be interested in. Your blogs should be addressed to the general public or all of your friends. Writing a blog directly to a person is generally not done. There are better tools to communicate directly with other people; the use of comments and private messages.

The three common blog types found on Yuwie are articles, diary, and advertisements. Advertisements tend to be the most prevalent, followed by articles and then diary format. When deciding on the type of blog you will use, keep in mind your audience.  If the people that read your blogs are mostly your friends, ad blogs might not be received too well. If the people that read your blog are looking for informative articles, they may not care about your personal diary entries.  This is important to keep in mind if you are targeting a certain audience. On a personal note, I write about what comes to mind. Generally speaking, this would be an article based blog. But I sometimes find myself writing from in a diary style when I am traveling. This allows me to share what I see and the effect it has on me.

In future articles, I will go deeper into the mechanics of the Yuwie blog editor, who to organize your blog, the use of tags and keywords to be search engine friendly, and the social impacts of blogging. In the mean time, go take a peek at the blogs on Yuwie. Note the blogs that you like, but more importantly, find the general problems with blogs you don’t like. By learning from other people’s mistakes, you’ll be able to write blogs that are accepted and well followed.
